I know it doesn’t seem like a big deal, but for an international student in the US, it is, especially in NC. We (my friend and I, we chipped in to get a car)? just arrived here 2 months ago, still no state ID, we got the car about two weeks ago thinking we can register it easily.
Well it was much harder than we expected. We went to several DMVs to register it, all of them turned us down cause we still didn’t get a state ID. Anyways we heard about the registration office, not a DMV, like 4 miles from where we live. So we said well give it a try, especially that we were going to a place 2 hours away that we were sure we would get our car registered on the same day. We arrive there, give them the paperwork, and pray to god that they will not ask for a state ID. The women asked if she could get our IDs, my friend handed over our international drivers license, and explained that we were international students so we still cant get a state license or ID yet. She seemed to buy it, until she made a big fuss on our names. Both our names were written like this: First name, Fathers name, Grandfathers Initial (first letter bas) and Last name. She said what was the letter for (grandfathers first name), we explained. She went and asked her manager, and came back to demand the money needed to register the car. I cant believe it. After two police arrests, we can finally drive this car LEGALLY!!!!
The only downside is that we are going to Orlando tomorrow, well? that’s not a downside actually, but we cant use the car for a week

Anyways, Have getting pulled over for the stupidest reasons. I remember those lines: “Sir, looks like you’ve been doing a little swirving back there!” OR “Howdy, your from outta town? May I see some ID?” OR my favorite “Kinda late to be out on the streets, got something to do?” WENTA FUCKIN SHAKO?! LOL, you’ll get some similar garbage from them…just go along man. And remember, you fit “the profile”!!!
