I was browsing through my daily online newspaper run, and I found an interesting editorial. The King Abdul Aziz Foundation for the Gifted, which was found in 1999, are now opening? schools in a number of Saudi cities for gifted boys and girls. It will substitute their high school education. The centers will focus on teaching a number of different programs, depending on ones interest, this includes math, technology, media, engineering, medicine, and a number of different fields. Previously the role of the foundation is to provide training camps in the summer, and some scholarships. Now they are offering full programs, from high school studies, and getting them into big universities. If they qualify for a scholarship, the gifted students will be enrolled in a? one year? program that will prepare them for the type of field they want to get into.
This goes in line with the Ministry of Higher Education’s scholarships, which I am a part of, big drive to send students to the US, and other countries. They are sending about 5,000 students a semester. They have almost 30,000 scholarships for the next five years. I think the future is bright. The? short to? medium term future is very bright for Saudi, many big projects going on, many great things to come. I am very optimistic.
I wish I could say the same for Kuwait, my other half, it might be bright, but it is not as bright. I might be wrong, but I do keep up to date with the news, and I don’t see big projects (i am not counting the city of silk since no one believes it will ever happen). With all the money Kuwait is getting, I wonder where is it going…?

Kinda like Charles Xavier’s school for the gifted! ;P
Nice find…
Kuwait has a lot to offer, educationally, especially considering the number of new universities that have opened in the past couple of years. Yeah, we have a long way to go..but don’t dispare, change comes slowly.
