I dont know why people are coming up with a smell recorder which will allow a person to record smells and recreate them for you at another time, then again these people are Japanese they have to invent everything.
t looks like Japan is leading the way on yet other technology front, first introducing Smell-O-Vision to movie theaters, and now developing an odor recorder that’ll let you grab a smell and enjoy it any time you like. The device, developed by engineers at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, works by using 15 chemical-sensing microchips that pick up aromas which it converts into a sort of “digital recipe” that can be reproduced at any time with the help of 96 chemicals that can be mixed, heated, and vaporised at will, resulting in sweet, sweet emissions the human nose can recognize. So far, the researchers say they’ve replicated the smell of oranges, lemons, apples, bananas, and melons — even distinguishing between green and red apples. In addition to recording smells for the fun of it, the researchers see the system as a potential boon to online shopping, letting consumers check out fragrances and food before buying them. We’re just glad we’re not around for the pranks at that laboratory. [Via]
Would you use it? Why?

wowow! that is amazing! ma 5aloo shay ma 9an3ooo hal japanese!!! bss sara7a, its kinda cool and kinda freaky… ya3nee its nice to record a smell that would remind you of a loved one (i guess)… madree, at the same time, it seems weired.. 0_o
first time here.. nice place ^_^
well thats one way to use it, a good one, but its still weird, no matter how u use it. In another hand the world is constantly changing so this might be “ok” once it comes out. Especially in japan, where the latest technology is hip down there, no matter how crazy it is
I wouldnt even know how to use it! hahahaha! It better have a joystick of a ps2! hahahaha!
lol
Well it is a crazy idea. I could actually think of one thing that it might be usefull for. If they could make a big one, then they could be used in movie theatres so that if you were watching a movie and the charactors were smelling something bad, then you could smell it too. That would make the movie seem more realistic.
Other than that, I believe the whole thing is a waste of time, money and effort.
My View. Your View,
well they already have smell-o-visions in japan, and i think there is a few in the states too.
