Pirates of Silicon Valley: Mini Review

Yesterday I posted about Pirates of Silicon Valley. I was checking out Wired’s Blog, and found this interesting post:

The $5 Million Google Video
Question: Does Google know that the full movie “Pirates of Silicon Valley” is available on Google Video?

Better Question: Does TNT (an AOL/Time Warner company) know?

Answer: Considering that the Google pirate of “Pirates…” has been viewed about 350,000 times, representing a loss of about $5 million in DVD sales (based on Amazon.com’s price of $14.49), I’m going to go out on a limb guess: No.

Cognitive Dissonance: While Google responds almost too quickly to take-down requests on YouTube, Google Video still hosts full-length movies for months at a time with nary a peep from anyone. Insanely great? Or greatly insane?

I would have never paid $14.49 to watch it anyways.

Oh and I watched it. I didnt really like it that much. It was interesting seeing how the thing I am typing on right now evolved. I dont really know the history of the whole thing, so I dont know how accurate it is. I felt it was a bit too over the top. If what happened was true, and legal, the Steve Jobs is not so smart after all. (hold it Apple fanboys/girls, watch the movie then respond, notice is said the word “If” )
