I watched? Munich (DVD) a couple of days ago. I really liked it. I didnt have a chance to see it in the theatre. I remember that a lot of people talked about how sensitive this movie is. Some people said that the movie wanted to justify the 1972 attack by Black September, some said it was very pro-Israeli, and other people said it was fair. To me it was fair, and it showed how ruthless and dirty the Mossad work.
I didnt not know what the movie was going to focus on, I avoided reading reviews about it, cause I really wanted to see it. I was surprised to see that the attack happened in the beginning of the movie. Munich is about how the Israeli government hired a couple of ex-Mossad agents to assassinate the people who helped with the Munich attack on the Israeli athletes. Eric Bana, who played the part of Avner, the leader of the group of Israelis who were given a list of targets to assassinate in Europe. They travel all over Europe and gather information about their targets, and find a way of assassinating them. They came up with very clever ways of doing that, considering that they were doing that in the 70’s.
It is about 2 hours 45 minutes long, but I did not feel that it was? too long. Only when you reach the ending of the movie, when Avner goes back to his wife, do you feel that its a long movie.
For the people who watched it. I did not get why Avner keeps getting flashbacks about the Munich attacks, especially when he made love to his wife. Was he feeling guilty about what he did? Or was he still angry? I dont get it. He lashed out at his people because he told them that killing these people (the leaders of Black September) will only produce new leaders.

I think its because he “fucked” up. Get it….fu….oh well.
i thought it was a great movie, and Eric Bana is a fantastic actor! I dont think its pro-israeli.. i think its a good movie to recall what happened. Just to give an idea of what Mossad is, because everyone knows about CIA, FBI, MI5, MI6, and Interpol, but nothing about Mossad!
Losing his people got to Avner, and thats why he was loosing it. And adding to it was his curiousity, he wanted to see proof for killing these people which he wasnt given. So it slowly got to him, everything added up.
“ma7mood Hamshari?”…..BOOOOM!!!!
I watched the movie while in Dubai more than a month a go .. it was a good one .. fair to both parties.. I wrote my own review of the movie ..
I think the flashbacks at the end of the movie were due to the inner impact of the crimes he did during the past years of his work for the Mosad .. if you recall his conversation with his direct boss before the end and the questions he asked him .. it seems like he started realizing that killing the enemy is not the answer to the problems!.

Welcome to the blog,
Well thats what I think about the flashbacks, but wouldnt it be more suitable that he would get flashbacks about actually assassinating the people he was sent out to assassinate? To me that would have made more sense for that explanation, or Spielberg wanted to blame the munich attacks for this guys problems (feeling guilty about what he did) as if, if it wasnt for those attacks, he wouldnt feel any of the guilt and/or fear he is feeling at the end.
