Wow, where do you begin to address something like this? Forty years ago I would have been turned over with a fork up my a$$. What strikes me as so incredible about this statement is the reason that he gave…because I am a Nigger. Never mind the fact that my Grandfather and father fought two wars for this country! I’m Black and subject to the referenced ‘N’ word, but on further review of the video, I’m bothered by the fiasco as a whole. Now, I’m not trying to justify Richard’s stupid mistake, yes, mistake, but let’s not make this a Rodney King moment! What I see is that the brother had been interrupting Richards routine the whole time, not just heckling. What Richards is trying to convey was, yes, ‘I’ve called you the ‘N’ word and that offends you and so has your interruption the whole night.’ Now, the crowd, mind you, is still laughing when Richards initially says what he had said, but, by the time Richards recognizes that his personal response to the brother has upset the crowd, he tries to spin the situation into one that is still a joke and people weren’t buying it. At the same time, the brother now verbalizes his own racist remarks by calling him a ‘Cracker - MF’, but no one is saying anything about that, because everyone is stuck on the ‘N’ word. Richrds is wrong and the brother is wrong, both have inner turmoil and need to do some self-examinations, but we need not ruin Richards career, this is not Jimmy-the-Greek! To the brother, trust me, you wouldn’t have heckled J. Anthony Brown’s and/or Chris Rock’s act, because outside of calling you the ‘N’ word, your mother and whole family would have become subject matter!

I’m black and I, like Howard U and Alana, have the same type issues with Richards comments; but I also don’t like when Richerd Pryor or Dave Chappelle or Paul Mooney refer to black people as Niggers. I was born and raised in the South in the 60’s; and folks what Richards said was true. Had the brother, who was very disrespectful by the way, acted the way he did years ago he would have been hung by his ankles with a fork up his a**. Was it proper for him to say that? Absolutely not. I think that when comedians like Chappelle, who I think is funny as hell; I just wish he would think about his use of the word nigger, open the door you have to be prepared for whomever and whatever what may walk through it. Had a black comedian blown up in front of an audience and began a retort to a white heckler reffering to him as a crack assed cracker would that be okay? Folks there is still a major taboo and the fact that only those of us that have felt the brunt of it are the only one’s that are allowed to address it is bullsh*t. I have to agree with Max… I’m white and I have friends who are black, korean, and chinese. What Michael Richards said was wrong and no excuse for it! However, in reading some of the post I do have to say I am offended that since I am white I get placed in that “all white people are racist” group. Just because the moron down the street is a racist and has dispicable traits does not mean I too am a racist and have the same dispicable traits. I don’t think it’s right for white people to call each other whitey, honkie or cracker and another race to be scorned for saying it too. Same as a black man making reference to another black man by calling him the “N” word and someone of another race be scorned for doing it. If it’s wrong… it’s wrong! There should be no gray area. I understand the fact that african americans were enslaved at one time… forced to do things that they or any other person should not have to do. To instill into people the belief that everyone is equal and pass that belief on from one generation to the next until it has been snuffed from society completely! I’ll tell you something else that hinders this process from happening… ethnic leaders! These people say they are out to defend their people but what they really do is feed the fire. They want division amongst the people because as long as there is division… there is reason for them to do what they do… a way for them to get paid and make a good living off of that hatred… It’s true! Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks are two of Americas greatest icon’s who stood for what America is suppose to be all about. They didn’t do it for themselves, but for all african americans and others who may feel discriminated against and that one day everyone could live as one and not be divided. I really feel that if they were here today… they would be appalled with the activist leaders of today. It’s not about “I” and it never should be… It’s about “We the people…” and until that happens, I am sorry to say, we as a society has failed!

Listen if people are offended they just are and people shouldn’t try and down play thier feelings on the issue. I am an avid Seinfiled watcher and it’s my son’s favortie past time comedy show. Richards ruined the quality of those old reruns now that he’s let on how he really feels about black people. I really thought he was a funny guy on the show but will never look at him in the same way again. I have no reason to stop watching the show because of his callous behavior. I also don’t think this is about him calling blacks niggers, it’s about how he always really felt deep down inside about blacks period. It just came out in the wrong darn place (on stage at work) before the Seinfield movie came out on Black Friday, one of the biggest selling days of the year! It was a group of about 20 people coming to celebrate a birthday or something for one menmber of said group. There were about 15 that came in together, and Mr. Richards became annoyed, and began his tyraid. If he were upset about people entering during his on stage performance he should have taken that up with the management, quite a bit later. This is all about the user’s intention in using of the “n” word, not the word itself. When the comics on Russel Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam use the “n” word as part of their routine everyone of color in the studio is roaring with laughter,,,, is it appropriate for whites to laugh as well ? Again how can such a disgusting word ever be funny ?????????? When said in a different tone, it is the ultimate hate word ! Can any other skin tone comedian use the “n” word and be funny in their act ??? It is not a funny word, so how can blacks use it for laughter, yet condemn any others who use it for laughter. Kramer’s outburst was way out of line, he screamed and ranted on, but he did not attack anyone or destroy anything or steal anything. Anyone who did not care for his act was free to leave. He,in his mush brained head, may have actually thought at the moment he was funny. It appears this was just another white man who does not like blacks, who happens to be a celebrity. Not a rare animal by no means. All decent people should discourage everyone from using that word, in any situation, by any person, no matter in jest or to make a statement.

Humor utilizing race can be funny and sometimes breakdown barriers between cultures. We’ve all heard the Jewish, Black, Polish, Mexican, Asian, etc., etc., jokes and we have all laughed.
It enables us to take a true look at how stupid racist and/or bigots are and have been, i.e. Archie Bunker/All In The Family.
Carroll O’Connor did an excellent job in exposing racism and all the time making us laugh while being educated. No one was offended, because there was a message in the humor that brought us together.
Some entertainers continue to call women ‘Hoes’ and ‘Bitches’, but somehow lost in the translation is the fact that their mothers are women, and their daughters, should they have them, will one day be women.
The ‘N’ word is being taught to babies who in turn teach their babies and the word lives on.
But, all that said, let me state clearly that this situation of the ‘N’ word is being utilized by a minority of the Black community, just as much as the so-called the words ‘Trailer Trash’ is a small part of the caucasian issue. Black people as a whole have proven without fault that we are a strong and intelligent people and the majority of us are striving everyday to unite the world and create harmony. Today, a Black man being President of the United States is a reality.
I doubt with great sincerity that the first Black President will ever find himself or herself in a positon of ever using the ‘N’ word!

So far, the public has been shown a clip at the time the ‘N’ word was leveled at the patron, who by the way, now wants money, nevermind that he called Richards a ‘Cracker MF’in the latter part of the video! No one is speaking about that portion of racism, so one wrong justifies another?
Originally, Paul Rodriquez, Comedian, initially stated that he was very disturbed by Richards’s tirade, but, now is buffering his concern against Richards. Also, Paul was there during the incident.
Jackielee, Richards has killed himself professionally and has unfortunately damaged the whole Seinfeld crew in a sudden moment of stupidity.
So, don’t worry Richards won’t be casted for another show for quite some time, if ever.

When people say mr. Richard is not racist you sound a bit foolish. Forget the N word for a moment and just focus on the other things he said. The dude clearly has an issue with black people. First, if I have misgivings about the war, that by no means implies I harbor any feelings for the troops, but absolute respect and gratitude. Hard core conservative Repubs always interrupt antiwar statements with their rhetoric as in, “oh so you do not support our troops and all those who have been lost, in your mind all those lost, should just be forgotten and we should just pull out.”. That attitude will never allows to leave. Since there seems to be no clear goals, it is hard to determine when we would be victorious. We had a “Mission Accomplished” moment in time, what was that ? Saddam is removed from power, Osama in on the run, in hiding, or perhaps dead, what is left to do ? Iraq will never be a 51st state. It will never be a democracy, it is a tribal, waring, nation, we will not change that. Between the Kurds, Sunnis, and Shiites all fighting themselves forever, how is it we can resolve their tribal conflict. After 9/11, perhaps Afghanistan was reasonable, but then some imply Saudi Arabia was also the catalyst for 9/11. Forget talking to politicians and Generals, if you want to know about war, don’t talk the Generals, talk to the soldier. As was done in Vietnam, let’s just stat we have done all we can,, er-go, declare victory and withdraw. If there was a major withdraw, that just leaves a small force in place to keep Halliburton protected for the big money guys, The Iraqi Nation would no longer see the US as a threat, or occupying force and simply allow them to stay in country, and let the US Military think it is overseeing the peace process. Perhaps that would stop the slaughter,,,,,, and is that not what we all want to stop ?
