I just came across this in Al Arabiya’s website.
It is said that a person representing a Kuwaiti Businessman has contacted the Ministry of Interior in Iraq, and offered to buy the rope that was used in Saddam’s hanging for whatever the cost. It is believed that the rope is currently with Moqtada Al Sadr.
I find the fact that Moqtada Al Sadr having the rope as if it was an automatic choice a bit weird. Iraq just wont stop seizing to surprise us, or at least me. I always compare today’s Iraq, with all its struggles of various groups for power, to young kids who lived in poverty, and all of the sudden they have all the wealth in the world. They dont know how to act with all the “wealth.”
The article also mentions that the head (and other parts) of the Saddam statue that was taken down so “dramatically” a few years back, was also bought by a Kuwaiti Businessman and was displayed in his Dewaniya. How come I haven’t heard about this before? Did anyone hear about it?
