Today, a group of friends and I decided to prepare our beloved Kabsa (chicken and rice, not very far from the Machboos) for lunch. After spending a lot of time buying what we needed, which is pretty much everything, we were so hungry that we decided to have a faster cooking lunch (aka hotdogs) and make the Kabsa for dinner.

Preparing the 7amsa

Cutting and washing the incredibly oversized chicken! (nothing this size is available back home!)

Chef Abdul starting the cooking

After adding the chicken.

Nearly done.

Apparently we dont really focus on the “looks” of our dish.

Kil hal ta3ab oo manakil 3ala il arth? No way. For the sufra, we used a garbage bag? (clean), not kidding. And yes thats a strip pole in the background (dont ask
)

Aerial view of our dinner, u can see that we really used a garbage bag for the sufra.

Our salad. Only tomatoes and onions (left over from the hamsa), too lazy to go out again and buy the rest of the normal salad ingredients.

The aftermath.

Whats a meal like this without gahwa and tea afterwards. Used shot glasses from my collection for fanajeel
? All in all this was the best damn kabsa I tasted in America. Next step Machboos.

yazeed,
Allow me to make some good biryani and post the pic here. Most of you will salivate the moment you look at the picture
is that non-zabeeh chicken .THe reason i say is it still has its skin on .THere is heck of debate in our community over zabeeh and non-zabeeh.
rehan,
what is zabeeh?? do u mean halal? if so, then yes it is.
common mate .zabeeh is halal. I think you haven’t really cooked halal meat that may be one reason you are not familiar with this term.
first time i hear it refering to halal or not halal, but it was halal. The problem with halal meat, is that it is not widely available, so its not as fresh as non halal meat. But chicken is a different story when it comes to beef. The place we got the chicken from also sells beef, and the beef looked so old, that i would never consider buying meat like that, even though it was halal. Bas i heard of fatwas that make it ok for people in our shoes, to eat non halal meat.
