Yazeed

Yazeed is my youngest brother. When he was born, I was almost 10 years old. I remember his childhood, his 1st day at school. He 1st day swimming in the pool and many other funny stuff.

I have only 2 brothers, and everyone has his special place in my heart. Yazeed “Dood” has his own ways to make me laugh and to show me how much he cares even though I could be sometime tough on him and play the big sister’s role.

Although his school performance was not as we wished for. He is a very talented person and he proved that he can teach himself the things that he is highly interested in. In 2003 he started playing with a guitar. You can’t imagine how noisy that was back then. In 2005 he received some privet lessons from a Jordanian guitarist at home and was practicing seriously. During that time our family was going through what we can call a “challenging” period which forced Yazeed to be more on his own. He always ran into a corner or a room in the house with his guitar and laptop to either play on his guitar or design something for someone on Adobe Photoshop.

I believe that Yazeed can do something great and come up with good things. But we need to capitalize on the fields that he is interested in and his talent.

Lately, he was recording some of his guitar notes and posting them on different websites and discussion forms. That’s when we decided to create a blog for him to enable him to share more of his work and have one pot where he can post all his work.

This weekend project was “Yazeed’s Tunes”

I got a PCMCI card

Yesterday I managed to get a PCMIC. Thanks to one of my colleagues who was present in an event were STC had a promotion on the PCMCI cards. I didn’t expect to log in that fast and easy. The connection speed is 1.8 Mbps, and guess what, i’m blagging this post from the car on my way to the office. Isn’t that cool :D

The application is really cool and clean. I can even make phone calls while surfing. I’ve also heard that STC is offering by the end of the month a package smilier toMobily’s. Pay a fixed amount and enjoy unlimited data transfer for the whole month.

Now I can post on this blog more frequent now :D

Back to Riyadh

I came back to Riyadh on Friday. Yet, not able to catch up with work. Until I give you more details, please DO NOT FLY SAMA, unless you have nothing urgent to work on in the next few days and you can stay away from a clean bathroom for long hours :P ….

Oh, and Jeddah Hilton should not be your option if you are looking for a “5 stars hotel” standards of clean rooms and furniture. I changed the room 3 times upon my arrival!

You have to wait until I settle down and process the pending work to be able to tell you the story :)

at Jeddah . . .

Today is the last day in the training that I’m attending in Jeddah. The training is titled “Analysis and Interpretations of Financial Statements”. The course was really interesting and beneficial especially that I didn’t study finance and accounting as a major. I might share with you a summary once I return back to Riyadh.

In both courses that I attended (The one mentioned above and “Creative Thinking for Managers”) in the past 2 weeks, I met some amazing spirit-lifting ladies who work at several different banks kingdom-wide (Head Offices, Branches, and Regional Offices). I even met some ladies who work for same bank that I work at and didn’t meet before. You can’t believe how educated, classy, knowledgeable, creative, intellectual and hard working they are! I was thrilled to meet every single one of them.

I extended my stay in Jeddah until Friday; and will go to Makkah tomorrow for Omrah with a group of friends and family members.

Taek cares, and will see you soon inshALLAH :)

The absence of justice makes the urge of giving up my nationality for my freedom stronger!

The manipulations of Islamic rules or applying some of the rules while ignoring the rest does not make the rules fair anymore!

The fact the “a man” has to decide my destiny and rule my life without questioning his eligibility and sanity, makes me a slave and snatches the will and the freedom that Allah granted me!

I am a Muslim, I am a believer, I am a good person, I am responsible, I am a woman and I live here!

I contribute to the growth of this country, I learn, I teach, I respect, I help, I work, I support, I give and I reflect!

I don’t misuse public property, I don’t even misuse privet ones! I don’t spend lavishly or wastefully, I don’t abuse, I don’t swear at people, I don’t talk behind people’s back, I don’t steal and I don’t break!

I deserve to be treated better, I deserve respect, I deserve to be given a chance, I deserve to be treated fairly and I deserve justice!

I demand all that I deserve! And I demand to be treated by the rules of Islam not the rules of the manipulators!

I chose to live here, I chose to stay, I’m not going, I’m not leaving and I’m not letting go.

Wrong has to change, and bad has to go!

I Discovered a New Place :D

I discovered this new place in Riyadh that sells economical furniture. It’s almost like the Port area in Jeddah. Full of warehouses that sells furniture, bed mattresses, bed sheets and home accessories for really cheep prices. It’s cheaper than Al-Owais and Bin Dail.

Driving Instructions:

Drive on the belt-road heading towards IKEA and Al-Rimaal Mall. Leave IKEA on your right side then go right on the next traffic light. Drive until the 2nd intersection then go left. You will start noticing the warehouses on both sides of the road.

Just don’t go with a fancy car. Take a jeep or a pickup :)

I’m Falling in Love …

I pass very often by a coffee shop on my way to the office in the morning. Starbucks, Costa Coffee and Barney’s Coffee were my main coffee options. They are all on my way to the office, however, I preferred Starbuck because they open at 6:30AM, which make it my only option when I’m going early to the office.

Recently, I came to notice that Dr. Café on the way! It was closed for sometime for revamping and renovating activities. I was wating for it to open, and last week it was.

And guess what:
1. They open at 6:30AM every day including Friday.
2. Their coffee quality is not far from the above shops.
  (My usual order is Coffee Latté with Skimmed Milk, but their frappes are good too)
3. Their coffee and coffee blinds prices are less than the others
4. Their pastries are delicious and they have a good variety.
  (Try the Double Chocolate Muffin)
5. Their pastries prices are less than the rest too.
6. They have a prepaid card that you can charge and use to pay for your purchases. What nice about this option:
  - I can budget my coffee purchases and charge the card accordingly at the beginning of each month :D
  - It’s a loyalty card, therefore, I receive free drinks on my purchases from time to time:D
7. Their coffee shop environment is very nice. They have Wireless Internet connection. (This was an option that I liked in Starbucks. The thing is, not many family sections in Riyadh Coffee shops have a cozy and comfortable environment and provide these services)
What’s even better:
1. It’s a 100% Saudi Brand
2. The staff are mostly highly qualified young Saudis who’s providing an extremely professional service.
Therefore, and for all the above, I’m Falling in love with “Dr. Café” :)

Coming to the Office today . . .

Surprisingly, Coming to the office today was not as difficult as we thought. Quite the opposite, the roads were almost empty. One of the things known about the people living in Riyadh is that they look forward for any vacation to travel!

Overall, the Arab Summit in Riyadh became a happy event for government employees, students, and even for us (privet sector employees). They got to travel and enjoy few days away and we got to reach the office quickly and with no traffic hassles.

let’s see how’s the rest of the day is going to be :)
