Champions League Tuesday: Late Gunners Show

My boys did it! When things became serious they prevailed (I just wish they do this in the league too). I didn’t watch the match from the very beginning. I was kind off let down that Hamburg scored so early. It was a very crucial match for Arsenal, who had to win this match in order to have a chance of qualifying to the next round of the Champions League.

87158.jpgIt was the same story again, Arsenal holding the possession, playing well, passing well, but no finishing. It was frustrating to watch, I was on my nerves the whole time. I had a bad feeling in my gut. Then out of no where, MAZE appeared on msn (I watched the game through an online stream, cause ESPN were showing the Celtic Man U game). He said hi, I said hi, I said I was watching the Arsenal game, inshallah wajhik khair. He said of course. And a few minutes later Van Persie scores! Now I knew the goals would be counting. Once Arsenal hit that high gear, you just know they’ll keep hitting you.

Sure enough, Arsenal keep attacking, Eboue crosses from within the box, and the ball goes straight through the keepers legs, I am not sure if he intended it to be a shot or not, but hey I am not complaining. Towards the end of the game Walcott flicks the ballstoryeboue.jpg to Toure, who plays it right infront of his run, Walcott controls it, gets to the edge of the box, crosses it to Baptista, who heads it into the empty net. Its Arsenal style, Bang Bang Bang Goal! You dont have enough time to react to whats happening and they hit you. What a wonderful ending, being 1-0 down at halftime, and end up wining it 3-1. Arsenal now sit on top of the group with 10 points, Porto 2nd with 10 points also, CSKA (who were beaten by Porto 2-0 at home today) are in 3rd place with 8 points, they started the day in 1st place. In two weeks time, its Porto vs. Arsenal, which is going to be a huge game I am sure, since both teams are tied in points. All 3 teams can still top the group, its going to be an exciting game week.

Here are today’s goals:

Eboue meant it; drop of the SHOULDER. tsss- NICE.
And it hit the keepers hand and slipped into the net.
      ’tis all good!
