I just read that California introduced a proposal in the state legislature to impeach President Bush. It is the second state to do so, after Illinois.
Here is some text from the proposal:
The call for impeachment upon the Bush Administration intentionally misleading the Congress and the American people regarding the threat from Iraq in order to justify an unnecessary war that has cost billions of dollars and thousands of lives and casualties; exceeding constitutional authority to wage war by invading Iraq; exceeding constitutional authority by Federalizing the National Guard; conspiring to torture prisoners in violation of the ‘Federal Torture Act’ and indicating intent to continue such actions; spying on American citizens in violation of the 1978 Foreign Agency Surveillance Act; leaking and covering up the leak of the identity of Valerie Plame Wilson, and holding American citizens without charge or trial.
The difference between California’s proposal and Illinois’ is that in California, the proposal calls for the impeachment of Cheney too. We all know he is? the? real president? :P?
It would never happen. But its a step. Bush doesnt care what people think now. He cant be re-elected, so why should he care now. He is ruining it for the republicans, and they will hate his guts when the next election begins. Everyone predicts a Democrat to win it, and maybe for a few terms too.
I don’t think it’s fair that the Americans only get to vote for their next president. I think the Iraqi people should be given the right to do so. This could probably end the civil war over there ;p
Plus, every country that has an American militarty base should vote for the next American president.
