Bush: Israel Has A Right To Defend Herself

I am not with the kidnapping of Israeli soldiers, nor do I encourage that. But they are not civilians.

I just saw Bush’s statement about the crisis in Lebanon. He is the worst actor in history. He went talking about what happened and how sad it was, suddenly his tone changes and he basically screams out that it PATHETIC. His tone goes down again and says “Israel Has A Right To Defend Itself Herself.” I get this feeling every time I see him giving out a speech, I really feel that he is being told what to say.

Well in my humble view, kidnapping soldiers makes them POWS, right? Attacking a whole country, blowing up vital economic interest is not defending yourself. If Israel really had a right to do something that would be attacking Hezbollah. Hezbollah, internationally is considered a terrorist group, in Lebanon they are in the government.

Update: Israel just bombed the airport again, this time they hit the fuel tanks.

Update 2: As expected the US vetoes a UN resolution denouncing Israel’s attack on Lebanon.

Update 3: I am sitting here watching CNN’s coverage of the crisis, they keep emphasizing on the “right of Israel to defend itself herself!”

I’m taking a class now called “Politics of the Middle East” and we’ve been following up on this issue..
The professor made an interesting comment.. The news media always use different terminology with respect to Isreal and Palistine.. When Isreal captures Palistinians the media says they are “prisoners” and they were “detained” but when the palistinians capture Isreali’s the media says they are “Captured” and “tortured”.. This shows a bias in the media.. It is a subtle way of saying that what the Isreali’s do is justified and what the Palistinians do is wrong and barbarious..
      I think its all BS!!!

      MvYv,
yeah the media in the west is very bias when it comes to the middle east, especially today.

      waa,
doesnt matter if hizballah is a terrorist organization or not, that doesnt give you the right to attack the WHOLE COUNTRY. From my understanding, Hizabllah are primarily based in Southern Lebanon, not hiding under the airport’s runways!
dont forget that 6 years ago when the resisted the Israeli occupation in the south and eventually drove them out, Hizaballah were considered heroes not only in Lebanon, but the whole arab world. When america started calling them terrorists, everybody started to call them terrorists!

      palestinianphilosopher,
i agree with the ass kissing part :)

      VERY BIAST
They linked France’s denunciation of the Israeli attacks with their stand on the war on Iraq! two totally different situations!
I am not even going to watch MSNBC!

Bush - the whole world agrees a monkey would do a better job being president.

I thought they veto’ed the violence in the Gaza Strip not Lebanon.

Hizbulla only took the credit for driving Israel out, that’s not the case. They didn’t drive them out. If they did have THAT much power and had Israel complying with what they want then Israel would be wiped out of existance. The problem with groups like 7izbulla is that they’re extremist. They believe that Israel should be wiped out fullstop. Now as much as they want or try, Israel is here, it’s exsisting, and they have to deal with it!

I’m not justifying Israel’s actions, nor am I in any way taking their sides, but truth to be told. Israel has tolerated these mindless actions taken by groups like these for so long. Even when Israel left the Gaza Strip and another area, Hamas were not satisfied. They wanted them to leave the whole area! In my opinion that’s just wacko. Take what was given to you, and then fight for more! Another thing, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip under Israeli occupation had electricity, enough to eat, health care services, etc. It’s not like they were being tortured.

All I’m saying is extremism never worked. And people always tend to be biased when they’re leaning towards one side or when they read on one side only.

Israel’s actions are not justified! What they did was WAY out of proprtion, but 7izbulla have to come to their senses! Let them give Israel back their 2 damn soldiers!! Two soldiers isn’t worth having a war over, and the only ones suffering are going to be the Lebanese people. It’s a war 7izbulla can NEVER win. The sooner they realize us the better it’ll be for the whole world. I appreciate them being patriotic and all, but being sensible will be much more appreciated. It’s about time they just do the world justice and give up already

      dishevelled,
well i agree that Israel has the right to go out and attack Hezballah, but attacking lebanon is over the line. If lebanon had the power and guts to dismantle hezballah, the would have done that a long time ago, but Hezballah is bigger than the Lebanese government plus they are backed by Iran.

I laughed when Bush blamed Syria for everything! :P

yazzez.. you’ve quoted the man wrong, he said: israel has the right to defend herself. every country has the right to defend her self.

herself. not itself… now, a constant reminder why an idiot is the only one who can vote for an idiot.
