Academic Advisor Dilemma

Just to show the world how the Saudi Cultural Mission (Mol7aqia) sucks big time, here are a number of emails I have received from them these past few days:

The following is an exert from an email I received on Jan 31st:

Dear North Carolina (NC) student:

My name is Michael Tsai, and I will be your new academic advisor starting on Thursday, February 01, 2007. I am taking over from Dr Ali Algayed…………….

The next day (Feb 1st) I get this email:

Dear students at North Carolina:

Dr.Ali Algayed is still your Academic Advisor. Please ignore yesterday’s email. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Michael Tsai
Academic Advisor

Later that day (Feb 1st) I get another email

Dear North Carolina students:
You will be assigned to a new Academic Advisor. You will be notified during the weekend with the name, email, and contact information of your new advisor.
Ali Algayed
Academic Advisor

The next day I get this email:

Greetings to all of you in North Carolina:

As Michael Tsai has probably already told you, I will be your new academic advisor, rather than him. I will be starting from next Monday, February 5th. In the meantime, if you have any questions, you may either fax me at………………..

Michael Zdanovich
Academic Advisor for
North Carolina students

Recap: Ali Algayed–>Micheal Tsai –>Ali Algayed –> Micheal Zdanovich. Four Advisors (3 different ones) in 3 days! I have had 6 different advisors in one year (7 if you count Ali twice :P)

lol, Ali Algayed was my advisor too!

It looks like its a little messed up these days, i’m glad I graduated after the surge in scholarships.

I think its good that they are assigning foreign advisors, the current ones rarely answer the phone, take long breaks, come up with their own rules, and treat you as if you’re asking for a favor. You have to chase them around to get what you deserve, calling them many times reminding them of your issue, but the good thing is that you get it in the end.

      (thats from my personal experience)

      Good luck man…

I have this strong feeling that Ali will be your advisor whether you liked it or not

      Angelo: LOL cracked me up!

yazeez: it’s not like there presence really makes a difference, just make sure you know your uni adviser (which I am sure you do) - ’cause they’re the ones that really matter.
